Antonia Becerra, an 81-year-old Glendale resident, was close to retiring after more than 40 years as a waitress at the landmark French restaurant Taix in Los Angeles, but that all changed this year after falling victim to a lottery scam that wiped out her entire life savings by scam artists. These scam artists even conned her into selling her car for the promise of getting a $2-million prize and a new Mercedes Benz.

Even after decimating her life savings, Antonia said the scam artists continue to call and harass her for money.

Antonia's story struck a chord with members of the Glendale Police Officers' Association who helped Antonia by paying her next month’s rent. The association is also hoping to raise money through the Glendale Police Foundation to further help Antonia in her time of need.
